Player tips: 4 ways to piss off your GM

Today we’re going to talk about player behaviour that makes your GM clench their asses in anxiety and frustration. It's important to remember that every GM is different, and what might frustrate one may not bother another. But in my experience, these things I’m going to talk about are fairly universal and could potentially annoy any GM.
 
Wait.. you DON'T want to piss them off? Wait you probably shouldn't do this stuff then.

Session 0 (system agnostic)

Let's talk about what a Session 0 is and what you all should expect to get out of them! I circulate this as sort of an agenda - "We'll meet at X date and time for Session 0, and we'll be covering these elements:" - This lets players give some vague thought ahead of time if they want to as well! Allowing more time is always better than rushing and causing unnecessary anxiety, don't you think?

In defense of ’railroading’

There is a fundamental misunderstanding that having plot and direction are the same as 'railroading'. Having things for players to react to is not the same as only allowing them to react one way. The term is misused and ill-defined and makes people (me) feel bad when its used so pejoratively! I will die on these tracks.. er,.. hill.

Mindful Gaming: Emotional Bleed

So I know a lot of people think emotional bleed is a negative thing, but I think while it definitely can be, I don't think it inherently is. Especially if someone can be intentional about their behaviours and mindful about their feelings.

Dungeon23

Dungeon23 is such a cool thing. I love what it is, and I love the discussion and collaboration around it. I know a lot of folks are talking about it as a megadungeon, and yeah I guess it can be, but it has so much potential for depth!
